Barclays Pakistan Opens Third Rural Area Branch

The Barclays Bank Pakistan has opened its first branch in NWFP. The branch is on the premises of Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC), located at Akora Khattak.
It said that Managing Director and CEO of Pakistan Tobacco Company Nicholas Hales performed the inauguration ceremony with Country Managing Director Barclays Bank Pakistan Mohsin Nathani. Also present on the occasion were senior team members of Barclays Bank, Pakistan and PTC.

BankIslami Intends to Acquire EGIBL

The board of directors of BankIslami Pakistan Limited has decided to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Global Islamic Bank Limited, Pakistan in relation to a proposed acquisition or merger in such a way that BankIslami remains the surviving entity.
The transaction, however, is subject to satisfactory due diligence, regulatory consents and execution of a bidding agreement between the parties.

National Bank to Open Branch in Saudi Arabia

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is going to expand its operations in Saudi Arabia by opening its branch within next four to six weeks. NBP already has presence in 26 countries of the world.
This expansion is part of the bank’s policy decision in year 2002-03 to aggressively open branches throughout South Asia, Middle East and Central Asia, told Syed Ali Raza President and Chief Executive Officer of NBP.

National Bank of Pakistan is working to expand its global outreach by opening up in South Asia, Middle East and Central Asia, told the bank in its media statement. The bank has a very strong capital assets base of Rs880 billion, with over 1,244 branches across the country.
