SBP Asks for ATMs’ Maintenance After Midnight

It is not disputable that Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) service of most banks in Pakistan is shoddy. Machines are either out of cash, not online, facing some technical problems, being maintained, serviced or replenished, or unavailable due to some other reason.
According to spokesman of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Syed Wasimuddin, the central bank has instructed all the banks to provide uninterrupted ATM service to their account holders. He informed that the banks have been asked to carry maintenance work of ATMs from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM.

Banking Services Resuming in Swat

Banking services have been partially restored in war-afflicted Malakand division while difficulties of staff shortage and lack of infrastructure are being faced in reopening the bank branches.
The head of United Bank Limited’s Consumer Banking Muhammad Asghar told a private news channel that 6 out of 32 bank branches in Malakand division have been re-opened.
Muhammad Asghar said that branches in Matta, Kabal and Mingora could not be opened due to the curfew in these areas. However, banking services have been revived in Taimergarah and Buner, he added.

UBL Issues 200,000 Debit Cards to IDPs

Since the 9th of June, UBL Wallet VISA Debit Cards are being actively issued to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Swat and Malakand Division, for the disbursement of Rs25,000 financial support allocated per family by the federal government.
So far more than 200,000 cards have been issued to IDPs in Jalozai, Akora Khattak, Chota Lahore, Gohati, Charsadda, Hasan Abdal, Mardan and Peshawar at special distribution sites, set up by the Special Support Group in collaboration with National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and United Bank Limited (UBL).
